Our Story
Rob and Stacy Seltzer enjoy living in Southern Maryland with their two children, Nate and Sophie. The elegant home that Rob built for his family on the tranquil banks of Herring Creek near Piney Point, MD is a picturesque labor of love. Appreciation of this scenic land and heritage provides inspiration for Rob’s unique furniture art.
Rob is a master carpenter well known locally for his skills as a building contractor; however, it is creating furniture art that sparks joy. Along with Stacy, who works for a local defense contractor, they have grown Herring Creek Furniture from a side business into something wonderful.
Moving the location of Herring Creek Furniture from Rob's workshop into Cecil's Old Mill when the opportunity presented itself was the next logical step in their journey.
Serving as a local commerce hub since the early 19th century, Cecil’s Old Mill has produced goods and services for St. Mary's County residents for generations. However, in recent years the old mill was worn out and in desperate need of repairs.
It's future looked bleak until 2019 when Rob and Stacy, with help from their children and several friends, came along and brought new life to this historic old building!
Now, thanks to their vision, hard work, and perseverance, the Old Mill stands strong and proud once more. Herring Creek Furniture at Cecil’s Old Mill houses the Herring Creek Furniture Collection - exceptional custom-built furniture for the discriminating buyer that serves both form and function. Each original piece of furniture art created by Rob is destined to become a legacy heirloom.
We invite you to visit and see for yourself the high quality and distinctive style of a Rob Seltzer original.
